Painfully stupid. Literally.

NY Times Article

So the Christian Science Church is now recommending that sick members seek medical attention if they feel it's necessary. That's great, no really. Only it's a little too late for some people isn't it? When are we going to get that public apology (not that that's enough) for all the people and children who have died under your care because you told them that germs do not exist and that with a little prayer, they'll start feeling better?

"One of the practitioners, John Q. Adams of Manhattan, said a patient who came to him with a lump under his arm was experiencing “a manifestation of fear, not a lump.”

The other practitioner, Rebecca Odegaard of Boston, said that if a patient had a bleeding gash in his arm, “I would try to calm this person, and help him overcome the fear.” Such a patient is suffering anxiety over the illusion that something has injured his “true self,” when the gash has only happened to his “material self,” Ms. Odegaard said."

No you blithering moron. They're not afraid because they mistakenly believe they've "injured their true self" they're afraid because they're bleeding out. They don't need to be prayed for, they need to see a doctor. The fact that you decide to pray for someone who is bleeding out rather than getting them an ambulance speaks more than words about your level of delusion. This goes beyond the domain of someone's personal beliefs and far into the realm of "danger to society".

Here's an idea: why don't you remove all your vital organs and sell them on the black market? You don't need them, they're only part of your "material self". And then Jaysus can beam you up to his cloud house, which really works out for all of us, doesn't it?

The reason they gave for this new stance on medicine is that their number of members are dwindling. Yup. It has nothing to do with them wanting their "provisions" to be covered by the new health care reform, and them knowing that the government could not in good conscience pay for them to supplement prayer for medicine.

This is an outrage.

Meet the Schatz family.

This is so disgusting.

I sent a polite message last night to nogreaterjoy's youtube account (account name = NGJMinistries) asking them whether or not they had anything to say about these actions and what exactly their credentials were in terms of psychology to be able to give parenting advice. Of course, anyone who has ever taken a Psychology 101 class is qualified enough to know that hitting a child isn't conducive to a healthy adolescence or even garnering respect from them. Then again, they graduated from Crichton (Mid-South Bible College) so I'm sure they teach that Psychology 101 as we know it is some kind of liberal propaganda, and that it's perfectly okay to beat children with rods and for women not to leave your husband even if he abuses you, because your job is to clean dishes and cook meals when you're not being fucked.

Anyway, this is still upsetting me quite a bit, so I'm going to try to relax.

LOL

I found out about this news article from Vogter2100. The American Family Association wants to stone a killer whale from SeaWorld because it drowned it's human trainer.

Article.

Vogter's video:

I don't even know what to say about this. All I can think is, wow. Just wow.

AT1ftT episode 1 is up!

Part 1:

Part 2:

If you are interested in placing yourself on the Hubbard Chart of Human Evaluation or getting a glimpse of the processing section, click here.

Also sorry for skipping a couple of chapters. I had to redo part 2 and I forgot my place. There wasn't really anything interesting there anyway, it's mostly just oversimplified inaccurate portrayals of "survival of the fittest" anyway.

Also, no one has claimed my copy yet. It is still up for grabs if you're interested.

New ongoing series on it's way.

It's called "Artemis Takes One for the Team", where I read terrible books so that you don't have to and review them for your amusement. These books will probably be more along the lines of political/religious books, but depending on the desires of my subscribers, may include other books that are inexplicably popular or written by morons (such as Twilight).

The first book on my list is "Self Analysis" by L Ron Hubbard. The review is almost finished. You're going to love this.

In the series, I will explain what they're about, read some of the lulzy quotes and rate them on some general factors. For example, on a scale of 1-10, the "so bad it's almost good" factor. How angry it will make you, and how stupid you have to be to enjoy it.

If you would like to submit a book request for review, please send me a personal message on youtube. SN = Artemisfair.
